Irish Heartbeat is a celebration of St. Patrick’s Day with distinguished Irish traditional music, folk and singer songwriters. Its the longest serving tour of Irish traditional music in Germany that celebrates St. Patrick’s Day. Started 38 years ago, many other St. Patrick’s Day music events have since been inspired by the tours. In those 38 years Irish Heartbeat has featured some of Ireland’s leading trad and folk bands and artists.

Geraldine MacGowan, Kevin Griffin & Michael Coult:
Geraldine MacGowan & Kevin Griffin are among the the pioneers of Irish folk. They initiated the folk revival during the seventies. Michael Coult accompanies the two on the guitar.
Léda:
The two young musicians stand for wild fiddle playing, spherical harp sounds, honky tonk piano
piano, goosebump-inducing vocals and wacky tap interludes. Because they are so diverse, Léda can be described without exaggeration as “a duo of a hundred sounds”.
The Armagh Rhymers:
Mumming is a kind of popular theatre. The performers wear elaborate masks made from willow branches. The Mummers perform a giant mumbo-jumbo that gets under the skin of those present. They make noise with rattles, jingle bells, play and sing.
