DAWN: A Musical on Reproduction is an experimental musical by Sheena McGrandles. Between concert, spoken word and performance, one ensemble together with a small choir of childless people speculates on new ways of starting a family. A temporary collective of Berlin artists explores different perspectives on parenthood and the symbolic power of the child as a bearer of hope. Where does the human need to create a family come from? Which bodies may and can reproduce, how and where? What wishes do we project onto a child who, as part of a new generation, could permanently change our current society with its classic family constructs and role distributions? This piece is a multi-layered and humorous artistic work that links myths and stories from antiquity and the present with personal experiences.
