Musician Fintan McHugh delves into the world of filmmaking and creates My Old Love: a singer-songwriter Fintan McHugh (Fintan McHugh) quits music for good. Lost, he meanders through the city when he enters a bar and is forced to face who he truly is. Confronted by the characters present, he tumbles into an identity crises. Are they real or other embodied voices of his own self?Fintan acts out all the roles in this multi-layered circus-coloured work of split personality, loneliness, a longing for collective experience, with the core question being: can an artist simply give up being an artist?

Followed by a performance which asks the question: what’s behind The Door ? Fintan McHugh takes the stage in a live music and circus performance story, together with musicians Torge Nonn (Clarinet), Bandik Nonn (Double bass), Juri Schewe (Drums).

Fintan McHugh is a creator who works in music, film and circus. He was born in Dublin into a musical household: playing in his fathers Irish traditional group ‘Amongst Friends’ he sings, plays the guitar, the cittern, the Indian harmonium, harmonicas, piano, and dances sean-nós step-dancing. In the spirit of the traveling troubadour Fintan has released two solo albums, singing and accompanying himself on the guitar, on a self-made Irish 10-string bouzouki and on harmonica.

His first short film My Old Love was released in 2023. It has picked up nominations for Best International Shortfilm, Best Music/Score and Best Actor as well as honourable mentions at a number of film festivals and competitions. Fintan McHugh won the Award for Best Actor at the Dublin International Short Film and Music Festival.
