German musicians Gudrun Walther and Juergen Treyz have long established a reputation for collaborative projects with Irish musicians. Gudrun Walther has played Irish music from the age of five, growing up in a family of musicians in Southern Germany. Walther and Treyz have collaborated and toured Germany, the UK and the US with All-Ireland champion Claire Mann and Aaron Jones as “the 2duos” and more recently toured Germany with Sligo fiddle legend Oisín MacDiarmada and séan-nos dancer and pianist Samantha Harvey as “Fiddles and Feet”. Both musicians are on a life-long journey learning about, teaching and promoting Irish music both in its traditional and innovative form in their home country. In October 2024, our team at artes Konzertbuero are planning a one-off collaborative quartet tour with the two German musicians plus two Irish musicians, Nuala Kennedy (based in Ennis, Co.Clare) and Aaron Jones (currently based in the UK).
