A very special night of Irish folk and rock music featuring Ben Bulben Band and Kíla.
The second Irish Wave evening combines two of the most interesting live acts in contemporary Irish rock music. For over 35 years, both formations have dedicated themselves to Irish musical culture and have brought their repertoire into our millennium.
While the Ben Bulben Band is regarded as the institution of Irish folk rock in the Bonn region, Kíla has long since achieved cult status in Ireland and is one of U2 singer Bono’s favourite bands. We are delighted to create a special network between local musicians and Irish musicians.
Tuilleadh eolaisKíla are heralded as one of Ireland’s most innovative and exciting bands. Often defined as contemporary Irish world music, Kíla fuse their own melodies, Irish lyrics, Irish folk instruments such as whistles, fiddles, uilleann pipes and bodhrán with djembe, congas, drums, mandolins, brass, and acoustic, electric and bass guitars.
The seven musicians in the Ben Bulben Band combine traditional with modern rhythms and different musical styles. Echoes of rock classics and film scores are often incorporated into their arrangements.
