Creative Frameworks is a regular series of info and networking sessions for Irish creatives to navigate the creative landscapes in Germany. It takes place at the Irish Embassy (as well as external venues on occasion) in Berlin on a monthly basis. Since its inception in 2023, in the lead-in to Zeitgeist Irland 24, Creative Frameworks has provided a forum for Irish artists of all disciplines and at all stages of career to connect, share knowledge and resources, and offer support.

The events offer an opportunity for artists and creative practitioners to present their projects and ideas, as well as to troubleshoot issues as a group. Practical topics arise such as how to find a studio or event space, and the process of creating an exhibition, as well theoretical discussions on payment vs exposure and presenting case studies of particular projects. Hearing about creative practices and approaches inspires and motivates.

Contributors have include Sheena McGrandles, who spoke about her recent production at Hebbel am Ufer in Berlin and her experience of building a thriving career as a dancer and choreographer in Berlin, Architecture studio Plattenbau about their practice and upcoming project ‘Table Service’, Artistic Director of English Theatre Berlin Guenther Grosser about their festival of Irish Theatre, as well as visiting Zeitgeist Irland 24 artists such as the residents of the Irish Hub as the Literarisches Colloquium Berlin.

Admission to Creative Frameworks is free, but advance registration is required. To register, please email culture.berlin@dfa.ie, with a brief description of your artistic practice and indicating if you would like to present a current or upcoming project.
