Eine Stimme finden / Finding a Voice involves two separate strands of activity aimed at strengthening Ireland’s ties with Germany in relation to women and music.
The first strand, Reflections & Inspirations, focuses on works by living Irish composers who have been inspired by Clara Schumann. These include Reflections on a Theme by Clara Schumann, commissioned by Finding a Voice for the composer’s bicentenary in 2019, and Jane O’Leary’s Clara for clarinet and speaker inspired by the life of Clara Schumann, which will be performed in Leipzig by clarinettist Paul Roe and pianist Mary Dullea alongside works by Clara Schumann.
In the second strand, Discovering, Finding a Voice will collaborate with the Archiv Frau und Musik in Frankfurt on a series of events including lecture-workshops on women and music in Ireland and choral music by Irish women composers, developing the Archiv’s holdings of music by Irish women composers.
