“The Story of a Line” is an immersive and interactive exhibition by IN—TWO (Isi Mullins and Nico Tracey) that explores the complexity of Irish culture both at home and in Germany. It delves into themes of identity, home, and cultural adaptation through a sensory experience. The exhibit uses found materials and contrasting cultural elements to highlight the feelings of being “not Irish enough,” the reinvention of cultural identity, and the resilience of Irish culture abroad. Visitors navigate a visually intense space filled with graphic linework, guided by a pamphlet that serves as a key to understanding the exhibition. The experience is designed to provoke thought about the meaning of culture and personal interaction with one’s own cultural identity. Through a combination of videography, soundscapes, and spatial design, the exhibition creates an engaging environment that challenges visitors to reflect on what Irishness “feels” like today.
Tuilleadh eolaisIN—TWO is an artist collective founded by Isi Mullins and Nico Tracey from Co. Wicklow, Ireland. Combining their love for both analogue and contemporary art forms, they explore storytelling and image-making through design and fine art. As longtime friends and artistic collaborators, they’ve lived together in Bray, Brooklyn, and Berlin since 2019. Post-pandemic, they were inspired to create a supportive artistic community in Berlin, offering a safe space for artists to experiment and showcase their work affordably. Their first Berlin exhibition in November 2022 was a success, focusing on the cycles of time and friendship. Building on this, a second exhibition in 2023 featured over 25 artists, performers, and musicians, aiming to break down barriers for immigrant artists in Berlin coinciding with the publishing of the third issue of their art zine, IN-TWO. All their projects are not-for-profit and self-funded, reflecting their commitment to the collective’s mission.
